According to the IRS, direct deposit is more secure because there is no check to get lost or stolen. Direct deposit takes the Treasury less time than issuing a check, too, so you'll usually receive your refund sooner .
There are some restrictions, however. The IRS may not accept a direct deposit request if the refund claimed differs by more than $50 from what the IRS computes. Also, if it is a joint return, both names must be on the account to which the funds are deposited. If the direct deposit cannot be completed, the IRS will mail you a check instead.
Here is the information you'll need for Direct Deposit:
- SESLOC's routing number: 3 2 2 2 8 2 7 1 3
- Your account number (as shown on your statement), plus the account to which you want your refund deposited. Example: S9 (checking) S1 (savings).
(Please refer to your account statement or membership card for your account number, or call a Member Services representative for assistance. Copying the account number from the bottom of your checks can be confusing and frequently results in errors and delays).
If you have questions, please call our Member Services Representatives at (805) 543-1816 or (805) 227-1030 from North County.
