Summer Travel Checklist

Summer travel season is here. Begin your trip of a few hundred or a few thousand miles with a few steps to protect your accounts – and ensure you have funds when you need them.

First, complete our Travel Notification Form, conveniently available from the tools menu on our website or at any SESLOC branch. Due to excessive fraud, Visa® Credit Card, Visa Check Card (debit) and ATM transactions are blocked from many countries. This notification helps us provide continuous Credit Card, Check Card and ATM access while you travel,* both inside and outside the U.S.

Next, plan multiple ways to access funds. If your debit card is damaged, you’ll want to be ready with checks or ATM card. Carry two credit cards in case one account is compromised, and consider purchasing Travelers Cheques at any SESLOC branch.

More Travel Tips

  • Link your ATM card to your checking account. ATMs outside the U.S. do not offer access to savings.
  • Check your card expiration dates to be sure they won’t expire while you’re traveling.
  • Activate a new ATM or Visa Check Card with a PIN-based transaction before leaving the U.S.
  • Perform a test transaction at a merchant or ATM with any card you intend to use for travel.
  • When withdrawing foreign currency at an overseas ATM, calculate the dollar value so you don’t exceed your limit. If your transaction is rejected, try the next lower transaction amount.
  • Order Foreign Currency from SESLOC at least 14 business days before your departure.
  • Use eBranch Online Access to automatically pay bills while away.
  • Take the phone numbers for lost or stolen cards: simply print our website “Contact Us” page.

Visit the Travel Center on our website for more important travel tips. Call or stop by if you have questions regarding your account and summer travel plans.

A confirmed fraud may require us to immediately block a card to reduce losses.
