It Pays to Know Your Limits

Your Visa® Check Card carries the Visa logo, but it is actually a debit card. Debit means “subtract,” and when you use it, money is electronically subtracted from your checking account. You can use it like a Visa card and sign for purchases, or use it like an ATM card and enter your PIN. Because it’s a debit card, it has daily withdrawal limits, the same way an ATM card does.

Daily Withdrawal Limits
  • $1,000 at Visa terminals with signature.
  • $400 at point of sale terminals with PIN entry.
  • $300 at ATMs.

ATM card limits are the same, except ATM cards cannot be used at Visa terminals.

Daily withdrawal limits are based on a 24-hour period beginning at midnight California time, so you’ll need to know what time it is in California if you’re making daily withdrawals.
