Direct Deposit Your Tax Refund

If security and speed are your top priorities, direct deposit and online filing may be the right choice for you. Refunds are processed faster and more accurately with online filing. Plus, when you use direct deposit, you receive your refund faster. You will need the following:

• Your account number. For a savings account deposit, use your account number as it appears on your statement. To deposit to checking, use the account number as it appears at the bottom of your check (see example).
  
  
• Pay attention to details. The name on the return must match the name on the Social Security record. The name(s) on the tax return must match the name(s) on the account for a direct deposit refund. A refund for a joint return cannot be deposited to an individual account.
