Since 1942, trust has been the cornerstone of our relationship with our members.  From the beginning, we have worked diligently to safeguard members’ privacy and maintain the confidentiality of each member’s financial records, consistent with state and federal laws.  The following explains our policies regarding the use and protection of information about our members.  When the words “you” and “your” are used herein, they refer to members who have an active, continuing relationship with us.

Your Privacy is SESLOC’s Priority

We collect only the information that is prudent and necessary to conduct our business and provide you, our member, with competitive financial products and services.  During the course of business, we collect nonpublic personal information about members from the following sources:

• Information we receive from members on account and credit applications or other forms.
• Information about members' transactions with us, our affiliates, or others.
• Information about members' transactions with nonaffiliated third parties, such as share drafts, ATM/VISA check card or credit card, or electronic transfers.
• Information from a consumer reporting agency.

Information We Share

We do not share information about members with third parties for their independent use, unless:

1. the information is provided to help complete a member-initiated transaction;
2. the member requests it;
3. the disclosure is required by/or allowed by law (e.g., subpoena, investigation of fraudulent activity, etc).

It is commonplace for financial institutions to share information about member accounts with consumer reporting agencies. SESLOC Federal Credit Union participates with consumer reporting agencies to facilitate making member loans. Federal law protects information provided to consumer reporting agencies; the Fair Credit Reporting Act strictly governs its use.
We may enter into agreements with other business to provide support or services to us for one or more of our products or services, such as mailing houses that assist us in delivering account statements and other promotional or informational material.  In all cases, we work only with approved companies who meet our security and privacy policies and who agree, in writing, to safeguard and hold confidential all member information.

Internal Security Policies

We limit access to members' personal information to those employees who have a business reason to know in order to provide members with needed products and services or to administer their accounts.  We train employees in the importance of our confidentiality and privacy policies, and we take appropriate measures to enforce employee privacy responsibilities. An internal Privacy Coordinator has been designated to maintain internal procedures and controls to ensure member information is protected.

Online Policies

Cookies Information:  "Cookies" are small pieces of information placed by a web site's server on the user's computer for identification purposes; the user's computer may show the information back to the server on subsequent pages or actions.

When you browse our public website, www.sesloc.org, you do so anonymously.  We do not gather user-specific information from your computer Internet software or save data about you on your computer.  We use browser cookies to track user sessions in order to evaluate the effectiveness of our website and facilitate the use of our site. Session cookies expire 20 minutes from the last time you visit the site or when you close your browser.

When you use our secure site, SESLOC eBranch, cookies are used if you register your computer. these cookies are used for authentication purposes only and remain until you unregister your computer.

In the course of providing services to you on our web site, we may gather information about you from the following sources in order to provide products and services you request.

• Information we receive from you on loan applications or other forms
• Information we receive from you in e-mail communication

We protect the integrity of member information by regular testing and upgrading our technology systems to protect against unauthorized entry or corruption of systems containing member information.

An Important Note About Email

When you open an email link on our website, your email is automatically started for you in an unsecured environment. Please use the info@sesloc.org link to send general comments, questions, or feedback only.  If you have specific questions or problems about your account that require you to provide confidential account information, we recommend you contact us by telephone at (805) 543-1816 or (805) 227-1030.

Our website may contain links to other sites.  Please note that the privacy policy at these sites may be different from ours.  You should review the privacy of the site linked to our site before providing any information.  We will never ask you to follow a link and disclose your personal information.

We do not solicit data from or market to children on our website.  When children browse our website, they do so anonymously; no information is collected.

Nonpublic Personal Information and Former Members

We do not disclose nonpublic personal information about former members, except as permitted by law.

SESLOC provides notice of our Privacy Policy to members when they establish membership.  We reserve the right to revise our policy, as our business needs change.  We will provide our active members with copies of our Privacy Policy when revisions occur, or at least annually as required by law.

You may be aware that certain consumer information, such as information related to mortgage loans, is a matter of public record and available to anyone through the County Recorder's office.  Unfortunately, this information is sometimes used by businesses to market their products and services directly to you.  At times, they also make reference to the credit union or its affiliates, which may imply they obtained the information from us.  The lenders' names, as well as certain details of the loans, are included in the public records, and this is where these companies obtain their data.
