PARENTS, YOU CAN GET IN THE GAME, TOO!

We are here to support you as you help your child build good money habits. Youth Week is a special time for youngsters to visit the credit union because the focus is all about them. Use this opportunity for education and encouragement and fun. Here are a few ideas:
  • Review their account statements to see how dividends help money grow.
  • Recognize youngsters for their savings achievements this past year.
  • Encourage your child to ask our staff questions - about saving or about what they do at the Credit Union.
  • Help your child set a new savings goal.
  • Provide lavish praise when a child saves enough for a special purchase.
  • Help them feel at home at the Credit Union.
 Educational materials in our branches, such as the teen "Guide to Money: Getting a Good Start" and "What Experts Say About Allowances" can support your efforts.                                                            {back to Youth Page}

If you're a teacher, ask about classroom education opportunities. SESLOC regularly provides financial education seminars for Cal Poly and Cuesta students, and we participate with United Way, providing financial education in the local high schools through the Junior Achievement program. Ask for details.

Join the fun.

Remember, saving is like brushing your teeth.  For good financial health, build the habit early.

When failing to save regularly makes you feel as uncomfortable as leaving home without brushing your teeth, you're on the road to good financial health.
