We’re partnering with News Channel 12 to honor nonprofit volunteers who make our community thrive. Each month, we’re choosing a different nonprofit and asking them to select a valuable volunteer to receive the SESLOC Cares for Community Award. We are thrilled to introduce our latest recipient, Stacy Meko, a volunteer with the South County Youth Coalition.
Meet Stacy Meko, a dedicated leader in South County for over 35 years. Through her work with the South County Youth Coalition, Stacy has dedicated thousands of hours supporting local students at Lucia Mar Unified School District schools.
As treasurer and digital outreach board member, she ensures financial stability, expands outreach, and brings vital resources to families in need. Stacy honed these skills through a career in marketing, website development, and graphic design, assisting local wineries improve their online presence before retiring. Her leadership, from PTA president to serving on school committees, has fostered community partnerships and strengthened support networks for students. Stacy also served on the San Luis Obispo County Commission on the Status of Women and Girls, appointed t in 2019.
After graduating from Georgetown University with a bachelor’s degree in French, she and her husband moved to the Central Coast in 1986 where they raised their three children. In her spare time, Stacy would teach French with the Bright Futures after school program.
Stacy’s unwavering dedication has made a lasting impact. Congratulations on being recognized as SESLOC’s Community Cares Award recipient!
