We’re partnering with News Channel 12 to honor nonprofit volunteers who make our community thrive. Each month, we’re choosing a different nonprofit and asking them to select a valuable volunteer to receive the SESLOC Cares for Community Award. We are thrilled to introduce our latest recipient, Nina Joe, a volunteer with Jack’s Helping Hand.
We are proud to present the SESLOC Community Cares Award to Nina Joe.
Since becoming a volunteer at Jack’s Helping Hand in 2021, Nina is credited for “consistently dedicating time and energy” to serving children who are medically fragile or challenged by a disability through the Little Riders therapeutic horseback program. Volunteering weekly, she provides hands-on support that helps riders build balance, confidence, and independence.
Nina draws from a lifetime of experience in physical therapy and the medical field to physically help the riders as needed, building their personal confidence, self-awareness and decision-making skills. Over the 5 years, Nina has supported the equestrian program at both the San Luis Obispo and Nipomo locations, providing thoughtful suggestions and creative solutions for challenges.
While her expertise in physically helping riders is invaluable, that’s not the only place she serves Jack’s Helping Hand. She is a regular presence at the Annual Barbeque Fundraiser and Imagination Park Golf Tournaments. Organizers at the nonprofit hail Nina as a “invaluable member of the Jack’s Helping Hand family, and the children we serve benefit from her dedication and care.”
Congratulations on being recognized as SESLOC’s Community Cares Award recipient!
