SESLOC is celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month from September 15th to October 15th and the important contributions Hispanics and Latinos make to strengthen our community. To join in the celebration, check out some festive local celebrations planned for 2024:
The Mariposa Festival
• Date: TBD, September 2024
• Location: SLO Downton Farmers Market, between Higuera and Monterey St.
• Time: 6:00-9:00 PM
• Activities: This event will feature music, delicious food, educational booths, and artisans. It’s a great opportunity for families and the community to come together and celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month and the return of the western monarch butterfly.
3rd Annual Hispanic Heritage Festival
• Date: Sunday, September 15, 2024
• Location: Paso Downtown City Park, 12th Street Paso Robles, CA 93446
• Time: 2:00-9:00 PM
• Activities: This year’s event celebrates all Hispanic countries in South and Central America, highlighting their food, traditions, and customs. Music will be central to the event, providing attendees the opportunity to dance and enjoy themselves. Alma de Jalisco Mariachi has been booked to bring their lively sounds.
Fall Fest: A Latinx & Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration
• Date: Sunday, October 13, 2024
• Location: Boys & Girls Club of South San Luis Obispo County, 1830 19th St, Oceano, CA 93445
• Time: 10:00 AM-1:00 PM
• Activities: This event will include cultural performances, food vendors, vendor maker market, games, and activities.
Downtown Fridays Santa Maria
• Date: Every Friday, Until October 4, 2024
• Location: Santa Maria Town Center West
• Time: 5:30-8:30 PM
• Activities: This event is a family-friendly festival that celebrates community spirit and cultural diversity. There are dishes from around the globe, unique treasures at the vendor booths, Lotería, kid activities, dancing, and live entertainment in both Spanish and English.
Dia de los Muertos Festival
• Date: Saturday, October 26, 2024
• Location: Paso Downtown City Park, 12th Street Paso Robles, CA 93446
• Time: 10:00 AM-4:00 PM
• Activities: This event is a cultural celebration that includes educational and children’s activities, food, dance, music, vendors of cultural wares, special ofendre and more.
Hispanic Heritage Month is an important time to recognize and celebrate the rich cultural contributions of Hispanics and Latinos in our communities.
