SESLOC is starting 2025 with a high note, reaching a major milestone in our educational grants program. Since 2013, SESLOC has funded over $200,000 of grants for classrooms in San Luis Obispo and Northern Santa Barbara counties.
Each month, SESLOC awards education grants in amounts up to $500 to supplement usual classroom budgets. Each one goes directly to support teachers across the region by enriching their lesson plans with the equipment that goes beyond a school’s budget.
Here’s how Central Coast teachers have recently enhanced their curriculums, thanks to SESLOC Education Grants:
- Lillian Larsen Elementary School bought supplies for a hands-on lesson about Chumash life.
- Paulding Middle School created an audio-book listening zone for students.
- Central Coast New Tech High School students built a botanical garden to study plant lifecycles.
- Plus, multiple teachers have been able to expand their inventory of reading materials and art supplies, as well as fun new equipment for P.E. class.
“We are proud to have reached the $200,000 milestone in funds distributed through SESLOC’s Education Grant Program,” says Vincent Delgado, Education Outreach Manager. “These dollars are critical in helping educators foster innovation and enrich the learning experience for students in our community.”
