Today we’re shining the spotlight on the SLO Food Bank. Tara Davis, Volunteer and Events Coordinator, tells us how the nonprofit makes wholesome nutrition accessible for the 46,000 county residents struggling with hunger.

What’s your mission? To work with a network of community partners to alleviate hunger in San Luis Obispo County and build a healthier community.

What’s unique about the SLO Food Bank? We are the only county-wide food resource in SLO County. 

What do you attribute to your success? The supportive and generous community we live in: The community, including businesses and individuals, always steps up when there is a need to be fulfilled. Everyone here genuinely cares for the wellbeing of our community.

What advice would you give someone interested in giving back to the community? Give what you can! Every little bit, whether it be time or money, helps. With our purchasing power, SLO Food Bank is able to purchase 10 lbs of food for every donated dollar.
