We’re partnering with News Channel 12 to honor nonprofit volunteers who make our community thrive. Each month, we’re choosing a different nonprofit and asking them to select a valuable volunteer to receive the SESLOC Cares for Community Award. We are thrilled to introduce our latest recipient, Steve David, a volunteer with the Central Coast Veteran’s Memorial Museum.
We are proud to present the SESLOC Community Cares award to Steve David.
A U.S. Navy veteran serving as a submariner, Steve joined the Central Coast Veterans Museum in 2021, quickly making a mark on the organization. With unwavering dedication and enthusiasm, Steve quickly volunteered as the official museum photographer. Through his volunteer work, he’s captured many moments that encapsulate the museum’s mission and community spirit.
He has volunteered his photography to Honor Flight Central Coast, where he accompanied fellow veterans to Washington, D.C. visiting the memorials that celebrated their service. His pictures were put into Honor Flight books for participants, preserving their memories of the special trip.
Steve was also instrumental in transforming the Wall of Honor program from a modest initiative into a signature effort for the museum. The Wall of Honor permanently memorializes the military service of Central Coast veterans, including units based in this area. Recognized on the wall are veterans serving through World War I to Operation Enduring Freedom.
In 2024, Steve joined the Board of Directors, where his experience as a veteran and retired director of site services for PG&E. As part of the board, Steve plans and participated in a wide range of events and programs. Living in Atascadero with spouse, Cathy, Steve continues to exemplify commitment, leadership, and a passion for honoring veterans within the community.
Congratulations on being recognized as SESLOC’s Community Cares Award recipient!
