We’re partnering with News Channel 12 to honor nonprofit volunteers who make our community thrive. Each month, we’re choosing a different nonprofit and asking them to select a valuable volunteer to receive the SESLOC Cares for Community Award. We are thrilled to introduce our latest recipient, Terri Lee Coleman, a volunteer with the Santa Maria Police Council.
A lifelong resident of the Santa Maria Valley, Terri Lee has dedicated over three decades to supporting the Santa Maria Police Department and its Explorer youth program.
Formed in 2007, The Santa Maria Police Council works directly with the Santa Maria Police Department to enhance relations between the community and department, raising funds for equipment and training needs, and promoting public safety through special events and activities. By providing critical resources to keep the community safe while enhancing relationships, Terri and the Police Council provide a critical resource that benefits the whole of Santa Maria.
As founding Executive Director of the Santa Maria Police Council, she has helped raise and donate more than $2.3 million—providing critical resources that help keep our community safe. Some of Terri’s work has gone towards purchasing crime lab equipment, badge patches for the SMPD Explorer Program, a state-of-the-art property and evidence management system, and Tasers for every officer.
Her passion for service continues to uplift officers, youth, and families across the region.
Congratulations on being recognized as SESLOC’s Community Cares Award recipient!
