During the month of August, we invited members to join us in supporting Jack’s Helping Hand, a local nonprofit that offers programs for special needs children and their families. In 2019, members and SESLOC employees raised a total of $4,576 to help build the Jack Ready Imagination Park. We look forward to making an impact in 2020!
We’re halfway through 2019 and what an exciting year it has been. Your credit union posted its highest month of loan fundings in April at $25 million. Your credit union is in good financial health, and we are helping to make living on the Central Coast more attainable and enjoyable for our members—whether it be financing a car, a new home or a college education. Not every kid can say they went to the Superbowl or got their first book published while still in elementary school. But students in our community can, thanks to SESLOC Education Grants.
SESLOC supports Miracle Miles for Kids (MM4K), a community event hosted by nonprofit organization Family Care Network (FCNI). FCNI serves over 1,800 families, children and youth in critical need each year.

Now through April 19, 2019 SESLOC is celebrating International Credit Union Youth Week by offering fun activities, giveaways and more to help kids learn about the importance of saving. We’ll also waive the $5 membership fee for youth under age 18 when they open a savings account.

With our roots as a credit union for San Luis Obispo county educators, SESLOC has a strong commitment to education. Our Education Grants program supports classroom learning, creativity, and innovation.
The Annual Meeting of Members was held at our SESLOC Headquarters on March 19, 2019. Members enjoyed refreshments, door prizes, received the 2018 Annual Report, heard the financial reports, and learned about the previous year’s achievements. Plans for the coming year were discussed and presented by the Board of Directors and the President/CEO.

We partner with GreenPath Financial Wellness to offer unbiased, empathetic, one-on-one financial advisement to our members. GreenPath’s certified credit counselors offer free assistance with budgeting, general financial wellness, debt counseling, foreclosure prevention and support, and student loan payment. GreenPath also offers a Debt Management Program where they negotiate with creditors on behalf of members enrolled in the program to reduce interest rates and help them repay debts faster. In 2021, GreenPath’s certified counselors assisted 8 SESLOC members with a combined $161,488 in debt pay off $55,656 through the program — that’s a reduction of outstanding debt by 34% in under a year!
