But for real—SESLOC is actually an acronym for School Employees of San Luis Obispo County. Rooted in academics and locally headquartered for 80 years. Membership is now open to everyone in Northern Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo counties, so SESLOC is a place for us all.

What is a credit union? May I join?

Credit union members share a common bond, such as where they work or live. We are a cooperative financial institution, formed to give back to our members, not stockholders. Profits are returned to members in the form of lower loan rates, higher savings rates, and lower cost services. Our members are local, so money stays local, and SESLOC stays community focused.

You are eligible for membership if you live, work or attend school in Northern Santa Barbara or San Luis Obispo counties. Or, if you have a family member who is already a member at SESLOC, you could join too. Simple as that. 

To get started, you’ll pay a one-time membership of just $5, and deposit $5 into a Primary Share Savings account. Then, you’re eligible for Everyday Member Benefits.

For benefits including but not limited to Identity Theft Recovery + Mobile Phone Insurance, SESLOC Rewards, SESLOC Shred Days, EasyPay, insurance products through TruStage® Insurance Agency, LLC, and financial counseling through GreenPath, Inc., refer to their individual Terms and Conditions disclosures located on sesloc.org or visit a SESLOC branch for more details regarding benefit terms, conditions, limits, restrictions and eligibility that apply. Some services require primary consumer member to agree to separate terms and conditions. Insurance offered through TruStage® Insurance Agency, LLC is a not a deposit and is not federally insured. The insurance coverage offered through TruStage® is not sold or guaranteed by the Credit Union.
2. Early access to direct deposit funds subject to employer and/or payer terms and conditions. SESLOC Federal Credit Union (“Credit Union”) generally makes these funds available on the day the payment file is received, which may be up to one (1) day earlier than the scheduled payment date. The Credit Union cannot guarantee early access of a direct deposit payment. Other exceptions may apply.
A Note for New Accounts — The USA Patriot Act requires financial institutions to verify your identity when opening an account. You and any joint owner(s) will be asked to provide a current California Driver’s License (and proof of address if you’ve moved) plus social security number(s). Accounts that can be opened by mail may have additional requirements. If you do not have a California Driver’s License, you may use a current government-issued photo ID.
